Biography
Summary (Elizabeth M. Hansen, Principal)
Beth has more than 25 years
of experience as an academic coach, classroom teacher, and independent school
administrator in metropolitan Washington, DC. She earned her B.S. in
Mathematics at Allegheny College, where she was a Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum
laude graduate with a minor in music (organ performance). She earned her Ed.M.
from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In addition to her
consulting work, Beth enjoys teaching piano lessons to children and adults.
Beth has taught in both
coeducational and all-girls schools and is the former mathematics department
chair at St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, VA. In addition, she
taught and was an administrator at The Field School in DC and Holy Child in
Potomac, MD. Beth also served as
assistant director of development at Browne Academy in Alexandria, VA, director
of annual giving at Flint Hill School in Oakton, VA, and director of
development at Fredericksburg Academy in Fredericksburg, VA.
Beth
was a National Association of Independent Schools/E. E. Ford Fellow and served
for two years as president of the Independent Schools Mathematics Association
of Washington. She has spoken about mathematics education at conferences in
five states.
